Network topology for localization:
Wireless localization gain in importance for medical applications, safety and logistics. Surveying exact positions of moving objects allows to plan most effective routes or enables fast reaction while emergencies. An example in a highbay warehouse defines the components needed for an real-time localization system.

Mobile tags:
The mobile tags will be located in the wireless network. People, vehicles and devices could be equipped with those tags. The transmission of additional application specific data from and to the mobile tags is also possible.
Anchor nodes:
The anchor nodes are fixed at a steady position in the localization network. They are basing points for positioning and could be used for forwarding of position information as well.
Gateway:
Same as anchor nodes gateways are basing points in the localization network. Furthermore they are the interface between the IT infrastructure (e.g. Ethernet) and the wireless localization network. The IT infrastructure is used for the exchange of localization information and application speciic data between the wireless localization network and the localization server. The use of several gateways is recommended in larger localization networks for larger amount of mobile tags and highest availability of position information.
Localization server:
The position calculation of the mobile tags is done on the localization server. The server has interfaces for access to position informations and application specific data. Those interfaces are used in visualization systems, logistics systems, operation planing systems and navigation systems. Supported interfaces are typical databases (SQL-Server, MySQL, ...), CSV and TCP/IP. An application specific adaptation is possible.
Visualization system:
Position and application specific information of mobile tags can be shown in a visualization system. Terrain surveys, loor plans, satellite images or 2D/3D models (CAD, VRML, ...) are the base of the foundation of the representation of positions. Based on the visualization application specific control of the mobile tags is possible also.
